Iberia pilots have called on 24 days of strikes during the months of March, April and May, stops that would be affecting the eve of Easter, the St. Joseph's Day and May 2, holiday in Madrid, according to the union this Friday in a statement. Specifically, the new schedule is affected by the strikes on the 16, 19, 23, 25, 26 and 30 March, on days 2, 4, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30 April, and the 2nd , 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28 May. Besides, Stvala cabin crew’s union (TCP) will join the strikes. They are presenting his call before the labor court next monday. Therefore, the strikes would be happening the same days. The union argues that Iberia Express will not be created outside of Iberia.

In a statement, the Sepla justified his decision to call on 24 new days of strike for the next three months after "the company's refusal to negotiate." The union had already announced that will intensify their actions in protest of the creation of Iberia Express which will be launched on 25 March, and its intention is to establish a new schedule of strikes next Friday.

The Sepla, which has already supported 12-day strike since last December, accused Iberia to maintain an attitude of "radical rejection of any of its proposals" and keep on the idea of creating the new subsidiary Iberia Express, which he estimates will mean the destruction of 8,000 jobs in the matrix, following the transfer of 40 aircraft of the airline to the new 'low cost' company.

"The pilots have offered to the company a project that is greater than the cuts that the company plans without segregating matrix activity," insisted the union. Hiis proposal focuses on a 50% lower cost of flight operations, salary reductions of up to 50%, sales productivity and labor inputs of new categories.

Sepla explained in his project, which has been rejected by Iberia, that it would involves an upgrade of the entire staff of pilots and an improvement of the working conditions in line with the current market needs, which would save 300 million euros, compared to 90 expected that the Company is planning to save.
